Hi everyone,
I am coming in with another short blog about one of my favorite topics- folklore. This post is about ghost stories as told by college students in the U.S. Apparently there are a lot of haunted college campuses and dorms in this country, places where strange and unexplained things have happened.
Some people say that these stories are just the overworked imaginings of over-stressed college co-eds, and should be discounted. That they are not worth looking into. However, there are hundreds if not thousands of these kinds of tales that have been recorded by researchers. How can they all be wrong?

The first one I will tell you about detailed a sophomore girl’s experience in what she termed a haunted bathroom. She recounts that every time she went into a particular bathroom in her dorm and locked herself in the stall, the faucets would all suddenly turn on with running water. Once she was done using the facilities, the faucets would then mysteriously turn off. She took to using another restroom on another floor for the duration of her stay at this dorm. Although the story does not say who the ghost could possibly be, apparently haunted bathrooms are a common story found in the lore of college campuses.

This next story comes from a college student who said they worked in a haunted administration building. This building had been converted into a part of the campus after it had been used as an old Civil War hospital. One day the student went down to the basement to file some documents in the filing cabinets that were there. He said when the door opened on the elevator he was in, he saw what looked like a makeshift hospital with people in beds, and soldiers walking around in old-fashioned clothing. Extremely spooked, he let the elevator door shut, and when he went back down again the scene he had witnessed was gone.
What do you think?
Were these students picking up on the energy of an old event that happened where they were? Or was it just the product of their own fears?
